The trucking industry has some very tight and sometimes stupid rules....since he drove too much a week ago he gets 70 hours for the whole week then he can't drive more today. Although it seems like there is no overtime in this industry it doesn't feel like from day to day.A Georgia to Arizona June 28th 2008Picked up a load in Atlanta and we are going to California. Even so we have had some good experinces in mumbai we spent a day in bollywood and where extras for a bollywood movie called fashion we got payed 500 rupees with free food all day as well. The day was very long Thailand What a Wonderful Place By RobWhen I left Thailand I was nearly in tears because I knew I would miss it so much. Up to that point in my life and my limited travels I had never been treated so normally. Back in the summer of 2000 Deanne and I Rob headed to Bangkok Thailand for a trek. In Thailand we met Ariette whom we call a good associate or distant friend. Each of us had a unique experience. It's been such a long time since I have blogged here. I have a few major updates on my life. For one Taiwan was unsuccessful. As a result of my citizenship status I was not allowed to obtain a work visa to teach in Taiwan. But now I am going to teach in Japan instead. I have never been to Japan before other than to connect flights so it will be a completely new experience for me.I will be worki The pandas the pandas See the olympic pandas Jonathan and I went to the Zoo in Beijing and we saw the Pandas at get this the Olympic Panda house they also had an Asian games Panda house. They were absolutely gorgeous but Jonathan said I could only have one if t fit in my hand luggage meanie. York Jorvic Viking ExpeditionWe caught the bus in and headed to the Jorvic Viking Expedition. Vikings had ruled York from 866 AD to 954 AD . The English briefly took control from 927 AD to 939 AD but the last Viking King Eric Bloodaxe was expelled in 954 AD and the town became a part of the new kingdom of England. Eric Bloodaxe what a sweet name. Maybe I should change my name to Geoff Murder Bow or Secret Garden Environmental Activity Centre I am doing well with my volunteer project. I have been busy with daily beach cleanups teaching the kids swimming on the weekends hiking and surveying a grass planting area after a massive rockslide on the island etc...There are about 15 volunteers most of them in their early 20s. They are from the i 2 i program and most are English. Very nice group Half are teaching English at the school Rained out The rain started two days ago and won't stop. Too bad since I'm at the beach now and there is little to do that involves being inside. The group has scattered today to try to entertain themselves and if I'm ambitious enough maybe a ping pong tournament can be held. I think we're all looking forward to heading to Vietnam tomorrow. Cambodia is preparing for elections on Monday so most things Great Ocean Road and Melbourne No photos with this entry sorry as we're at an internet bank of pc's without any way to plug in. We did a bus tour on the Great Ocean Road on the 23rd a winding piece of scenic road along the coast. We had several stops but the piece de resistance were the sandstone formations called the 12 Apostles Greg and I did an optional and pricey helicopter tour to see them from the ocean but I called him 'Monty' Hi All Well we survived the Mekong river delta. The trip was not as easy going relaxed and comfortable as advertised and we were glad it was over when it was. We opted for the 2 day 1 night on a 1 week old floating hotel and slow boat up the river and across the border to Pnomh Penh Cambodia it all looked nice in the brochure. We got up early for our 7am departure and had a 3 hour bus ride Bond Darcy and Covent Garden So the Old Me won a huge battle last week. I was meant to be in Germany this week but OM went into a panic about the ever growing list of things to do and decided to stay home to get them done. To my credit they are all done and OM is resting quietly for the time being. New Me frustrated that I couldn't bring myself to leave kicked in yesterday and decided that some fun was due.It all st Waiting for the Weather Hi AllWell we don't have much to report except that Hervey Bay is experiencing an unseasonal wet period surprise surprise. We went for a drive on Saturday to some of the local areas along the Caloola coast and then on Monday we headed up to Woodgate which is only about two hours from here and stayed in the National Park for a couple of nights. It was a lovely place and would be great on a ni Waitomo Black Water Rafting Black Water Rafting AdventureJean has wanted to do this for YEARS....having spent 2.5 hours driving south in bottom of the range rattling red toyota with appalling speakers not what we would call surround sound but we're in NZ so hey and jean asleep and drooling on herself we finally made it to WaitomoHighlights BLACK WATER RAFTING Amazing experience that included abseiling into a creep The Maine Engagement Party Rebecca's parents live in Maine and wanted to throw us an engagement party. Many of their friends wouldn't be able to come to the wedding and Rebecca's mother wanted to properly celebrate. Sounds good to us The party was scheduled for July 5th in Robbinston ME. To get there Rebecca and I drove from 4 PM Thursday to 4 AM Friday. We took turns and went the whole way straight. Surprisingly w Dilemmas and challenges Day 27 FridayWe are filling in a quiet afternoon prior to our flight at 6pm to Bangkok connectiong with our midnight flight to Athens.
