May 16, 2005: Its Time To End The RSS vs Email Debate As someone who tries to stay updated on the cutting edge of technology available to us marketers, I try to ensure that my marketing arsenal uses all the latest and most effective tools available to us. So I find this entire debate of whether we should use RSS OR Email very tiresome. March 29, 2005: How To Avoid Blog Burnout Why do I love the beach so much? Because all of us need to take some time away from our business. I admit that's hard to do for a workaholic like me, but I make an effort every once in a while to get away and unwind. Very good for body and soul. :-) And today's article (actually a blog post that I wrote up into an article) is especially for you if you're addicted to your blogs. But it has tips for anyone involved in internet business as well. February 19, 2005: How To Skyrocket Your Adsense Revenue I've been building new sites to boost my Adsense profits this month, but it'll take a while for them to build traffic and start pulling in the moolah.
Most of my revenue increase this month is actually just the result of improved Adsense placement and some (long overdue) re-optimization and tweaking to my sites.
January 23, 2005: Do You Really Need A Blog? Now that those infernal exams are over and done with, I've
got a little breathing space at last, so is it back to
partying for me?
Not exactly ;-)
More like back to my blogging, and stuff I really missed
doing.
Of course, fun is never far behind on the agenda. So I'll
be taking a little weekend trip to a beach in Goa in the
first week of February.
Bumming out on the beach is just what I'm looking forward
to. But workaholic that I am, I also intend to use the
occasion to write more stuff for my www.goa-beach.com
website.
On the other hand I might just end up having too much fun
to write anything coherent ;-)
But I do have lots of plans for this month, which include
adding lots of new content to my sites, starting new blogs
and websites, and increasing my Adsense earnings.
December 23, 2004: Good JV, Bad JV... This is probably the last newsletter I'll send out in 2004.
My friend, Vipin Arumugham, an award-winning creative designer has created a beautiful Christmas greeting card that will give your desktop a Christmassy touch. Look out for some more goodies at the end of this newsletter :)
But first, before I take a break for the holidays, I want to share with you this well-written, heart-felt article by my friend, S. Kumar, about a disturbing trend seen in joint ventures online.
December 09, 2004: This Is Not A Newsletter I know, I know... I'm supposed to be cramming for a PR (that's Public Relations, not Pagerank ;) paper now. But being the workaholic I am, its so hard to stay away from my PC, and what I love doing best - publishing. :) So this is not really a newsletter, just the ravings of an internet marketing lunatic ;) November 12, 2004: Peace, Happiness and Digicams I knew my life had taken its final jump into the virtual world
when my husband and 5-year old daughter were drawing a
picture of a mouse a few days ago. He drew a "real" mouse,
tail and all. She, on the other hand, drew a computer mouse,
and promptly declared, "My mouse is better than yours." Are
we spending too much time online, I wondered? October 10, 2004: Donald Trump and the 21 Giant Lies About Success Having been brought up all my life to be a "nice, pleasant,
polite" person, I find it hard... REALLY hard... to be
otherwise. Unless, of course, someone REALLY gets on my
nerves. In which case I usually leave them wishing they'd
never met me ;) Why am I telling you this? Because I have
learned, from years of experience... of being nice, polite and
pleasant... one HARD LESSON... Nice doesn't pay! September 14, 2004: Aren't You Just Sick of All The Hype? It's been a really busy month for me. I decided to further my
marketing education by joining a diploma course in
Advertising. Although it only takes up a few hours in the
evenings, it does leave me with much less time for my online
business. But I'm having so much fun... brushing up on my
(real-world) marketing knowledge, interacting with some really
great professors, doing case-studies, projects and making
friends with people ten years younger than me. :-) We all
reach a point at which we need to put more effort into learning
new things to grow our business or run the risk of stagnating. August 09, 2004: How To Get To The Top Of The Marketing Food Chain This newsletter has become rather infrequent because I have
gone back to blogging as a way of publishing more frequent
updates. However, I still plan to continue it so I can keep in
touch with you. I'm going to give you a URL that I usually
reserve only for my customers who purchased "Number One
In Your Niche" Its my blog where I publish search engine tips
and updates, and since its already listed on the search
engines, I thought you should be able to read it too. June 22, 2004: How To Get Better Search Engine Rankings with RSS Its been a while since I published the last issue. One of the
reasons is that after two years of constant slogging away at
my PC, my pocketbook was not the only thing that gained
weight. So I finally got off my ample derriere and joined the
modern equivalent of the torture chamber - a place I fondly
refer to as Talwalkar's House of Pain. And while I'm focused
on vital stats rather than website stats, here's a bit of advice if
you've been turning into a bit of a PC potato yourself... Get off
your ass and get active ;-) It'll be better for your bottomline
(pun wholly intended). May 12, 2004: Of Google and Googlies It's been a long time since I've written this newsletter, mainly
because I've had a really busy month - setting up new
websites, starting my own membership site and lots more. :-)
But more of that later... A lot has happened this month in the
internet marketing field, and a great deal of it had to do with
everyone's favourite search engine, Google. The Great G
decrared its plans to go public, with all the high geekery it
can muster, thumbing a nose at all the conventions of the
stock market, and bypassing the old boys network that tends
to hike prices before the IPO. March 10, 2004: Am I a Guru, Yet? I'm back from a great vacation by the beach, refreshed and
raring to go. My daughter and I took the flight while my
husband and parents drove down. Believe me, I can only take
so many entreaties of "Are we there, yet?" from a restless
four-year old. We had a great time, but I haven't developed the
photos yet, so I'll save the details for the next issue :-) Of
course, I came back to a full mailbox, overflowing with
spam... and a few (perhaps 10%) genuine messages - almost
2000 in all. Now that they're dealt with and deleted, here's a
dark secret I never told you about. (Sneaky Ol' Me ;-) MY
DARK SECRET... I'm a wannabe "Guru". Just kidding. But
here's my confession. March 01, 2004: Believe In Yourself And Become a Winner It's been a very trying month for me, with a lot of changes and
new regulations forcing me to make drastic changes in my
network marketing business. It's not that I haven't had
problems before. I have. But I've never had to make sweeping
changes of the sort I'm going to have to make now. I can't go
into it in detail here, but suffice to say that I'm going to have
to practically re-invent myself and my business. So I'm going
to have a few very busy months ahead and if I have to publish
this newsletter less often, I hope you'll understand. You see,
I'm not afraid of change. Never have been. In fact I thrive on it.
I always find change stimulating and challenging, if a tad
stressful. Feb 7, 2004: You Might Be Addicted To Internet Marketing If... Do you sometimes feel like you need a good laugh? I
certainly do... especially when things go wrong, scripts that
are supposed to work decide to give up the the ghost instead,
my computer starts acting weird and flashing me all sorts of
messages (not to be confused with flashing at the Super
Bowl). Well, I subscribe to some great humour columns to
get my mandatory fix of the giggles and keep myself sane.
Sometimes just the going-ons in the weird world of internet
marketing are enough to set me off... Jan 17, 2004: Whose afraid of Inktomi? I've added a new section to the website where you'll be able
to read reviews of eBooks and products I have bought and
personally endorse (I don't even bother writing about the
crappy ones). You can see it here. So far there are only a
couple of reviews, but I'll be adding more soon. If you depend
a lot on search engine rankings for your traffic (like I do), then
you'll be interested to know that Yahoo has just changed its
choice of search partners from Google to Inktomi. Why is this
important? Because it challenges Google's domination of the
search engine world. Jan 08, 2004: With a Little Help From My Friends... I figured it was about time I gave this rag the look of a real
newsletter ;-) But seriously, the 'Can Spam' Act is forcing
publishers to get their act together, and BOY, am I GLAD I
switched to a double opt-in system ages ago. Can't for the life
of me figure out why they decided to call it something that
has the acronym "CAN Spam." (?!!) I guess someone in the
legal dept has a case of "graveyard humour." What I really
want to talk about today is "joint ventures" - and how they
can give your business that BIG break you've been trying so
hard to get.
