The actress started working on her look in Dhoom II where she sported not only a lean and sexy look, but also a golden tan. In Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Jodhaa Akbar, Aishwarya wore black lenses keeping in mind the complete Indian princess look.
Now, with Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar Raj, Aishwarya will be sporting a complete corporate look since she plays the head honcho of a power plant. She wears a cool hair bun, teamed with dazzling solitaires and serious business suits. A unit source says, “Since this was the first film that Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya were going to appear together in after their marriage, it was obvious she wanted to look her best. And she wanted to work on all aspects of her look whether it was make up, hair or dress.”
It was also rumoured that Aishwarya’s role is based on the character of glamour girl Rebecca Mark the vice-chairman of Enron. Aishwarya plays the contemporary businesswoman in the film and hence RGV has modeled her role on Rebecca. “I am representing a company in the film but my role is original. Moreover, I can’t have a Dhoom kind of body for every role. It was not a hitting-the-gym kind of role. No special effort was made in terms of looks. It was different and I enjoyed the character,” says Aishwarya. More importantly, Aishwarya had seen Sarkar and knew that Ramu liked understated power. So she wanted her look to be very subtle, but at the same time, powerful. Aishwarya is the new addition to the cast of Sarkar Raj as she was not a part of the original Sarkar.

Amisha Patel recently opted out of Priyadarshan’s latest film, Billo Barber which she had signed with much fanfare as she felt the size of the role wasn’t befitting her talent. The Shah Rukh Khan-Irrfan Khan starrer is a remake of the Malayalam film, Katha Parayumbol and revolves around a humble village Barber (Irrfan) and his superstar friend (SRK). Amisha was to play the barber’s wife. She felt that the film’s focus was the friendship between SRK and Irrfan’s characters. The latest rumour doing the rounds is that it was because of Aditya Chopra’s friendly advice that she backed out of the film.
Apparently, Aditya is a friend, philosopher and guide. She has also signed a three-film deal with Yash Raj Films so they want to make sure her career moves are just right and should not affect their future projects with her.
Amisha’s desire to work with SRK is intact and the buzz is that in one of the YRF projects, she may just play his leading lady. And anyway, she’s doing a special dance number in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.
Amisha certainly seems to be giving her almost extinct career a new lease of life. Well, it definitely pays to be in the good books of a filmmaker who has one of the most viable production houses and boasts of hits like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Chak De in recent times.

Mumbai, (IANS) The battle of the blogs has just intensified, what with Aamir Khan proclaiming that he has a dog named Shah Rukh. The unflattering comment has sent shock waves through the film industry, but Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is unfazed, saying humorously that it marks a new trend.
Commenting on the whole episode, Shah Rukh said: “Earlier people used to name their children after famous people. Somebody naming a dog after a known person is a new beginning in that direction. I don’t have a copyright over this name if used non-commercially.”
The superstar, who owns the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders, is right now busy with IPL matches.
However, a close friend of the superstar on promise of anonymity vented his unhappiness.
“Aamir’s megalomania has been brewing for a while. Earlier, he declared himself No.1 as compared to SRK, who took it smilingly. Now Aamir is down to street-level provocation. It’s best for Shah Rukh to ignore these efforts to get his attention.”
Says a very popular character-actor, who has worked with both stars: “I guess the freedom provided by a blog tends to loosen tongues. Amitabh Bachchan has never been known to be this undiplomatic as he is on his blog.
Aamir must have thought it’s time to increase the odds, what if Amitji’s blog gets more eyeballs! Also, his nephew’s film is around the corner. During the release of ‘Taare Zameen Par’ Aamir created a controversy by taking on Amitji and ‘Black’. Now for the nephew, it’s Shah Rukh being called a dog.”

I’m sitting under a tree, on the edge of a valley, approximately 5000 feet above sea level. The river Krishna flows far below us snaking its way among the Sahyadri mountains. A cool breeze is blowing, jannat ki hawa (breeze from the heavens), as my mother calls it. Ammi, Ira and Junaid are by my side and we are in the middle of one of our favourite board games ‘Settlers Of Catan’. Shahrukh is licking my feet and I am feeding him biscuits every now and then. What more can I ask for?
Now, before you jump to any conclusions let me add that Shahrukh is the name of our dog. And before you jump to any further conclusions let me add that I had nothing to do with naming him. In fact Shahrukh is the dog of the caretakers of our house. When I bought this house it came with the caretakers and their dog! Apparently Shahrukh (the actor) was shooting for a commercial in this house a few years ago, and that very day the caretakers bought a pup…, and named him Shahrukh. What are the chances of me buying a house which comes with a dog called Shahrukh!!!
Some of my friends claim that I bought the house just because of the dog. I would have to be a serious fan of Shahrukh’s to want to do that. Your guess…

Catching up on films, saw Casino Royale last night which I liked.
Incidentally Panchgani is a favorite with para-gliders. Now that’s something I am going to learn as soon as I finish with the Ghajini shoot.
Well Shahrukh is once again begging for my attention, so let me get back to him. He is smelling too much, I think he needs a bath. “Heel boy, heel.”
Ajay Devgan might be seen in Eros Entertainment’s Raghupati Raghav Rajaram
Post U, Me Aur Hum, Ajay Devgan might be seen in Eros Entertainment’s new project titled Raghupati Raghav Rajaram, which he is also likely to direct.
A source from Eros tells us, “We are still in talks with Ajay Devgan as he is too busy with his projects but he is keen to play the three characters. This will be another golden opportunity for Ajay to shine both in acting and directing after U, Me Aur Hum. We have also decided to work with him on his next action flick which he has planned.”
Another source close to Ajay adds, “Nothing has been declared by Ajay but yes he has liked these three characters. The script is quite good but there will be slight changes which Ajay will make later. If things go well then this 3-character project will be the most prestigious project of his career.”
Currently, the actor is in Goa on a holiday with Kajol, Tanuja, his daughter Nyasa and Tanishaa. He has been shooting for Golmaal Returns and is also busy with judging Rock N Roll Family. Later on, he will also be shooting for Toonpur Ka Superhero with Kajol.
Deepika Padukone set to tie the knot with Ranbir Kapoor
Om Shanti Om girl Deepika Padukone, who was apparently seeing cricketer Yuvraj Singh at one time, is now reportedly set to tie the knot with Ranbir Kapoor. But she says she is annoyed with the press for publishing stories about her romantic link-ups saying they will dent her reputation and cause future embarrassment.
“The media needs to be a little restrained. I am a simple girl and from a respectable family. And loose talk about me harms my reputation,” says Deepika, “One day, like any other girl, I intend to settle down and have children. How would those write-ups look at that time? That rivalry was more media-created than anything else. Comparing me with Sonam Kapoor was so uncalled for. We come from two totally different spaces and we started differently. She assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali. I come from the modelling world. And our debut vehicles are so different. Fortunately, we were too involved with our own projects and had no time to think of each other as competition.
How do your parents react to your link-ups?
It used to affect them initially. Now they’re fed up reading new things every morning. We’ve decided to continue with our normal lives.Did the earlier link-ups collapse because of the excessive attention they got?
Quite possible. At the end of the day it was just destiny that I was meant to be with Ranbir and we’re very happy together.
Do you get time to be with each other?
We try to be together as much as possible. We did a film together, “Bachna Ae Haseeno”. That’s when we got close. We had met and interacted earlier, but we didn’t get a chance to know each other well enough. He was busy with his film. I was busy with mine. We were under all kinds of pressure. Everything became very messy. In Australia, when we shot together we started afresh. We almost met like two new people. There was no baggage to be carried forward from the past because even in the past we didn’t part bitterly.
Bollywood boy turns baddie for Ayan
Surya seems to tough have some competition now. The actor, who has been working hard on his body is now sporting a six-pack.
However, he will face stiff competition now in the form of Akashdeep Sehgal, who will play the villian in KV Anand’s Ayan. The Bollywood boy is popular on the small screen and is now all set to make his acting debut in Kollywood.
Surya has been busy with the shooting of Varanam Aayiram and has been travelling extensively to shoot the Gautham Menon biopic. Tamanaa, of Kalloori fame will play the heroine opposite Surya in Anand’s magnum opus.
Ayan is the second directorial venture of KV Anand, who had previously directed Kanaa Kandein.
Kajol reading novels now a days in an effort to divert her attention
Actress Kajol, who is yet to come to terms with loss of her father Shomu Mukherjee who passed away last month, has taken to reading novels in an effort to divert her attention.
A source from the Rock N Roll Family on which she was recently seen in tears reveals, “To cope up with her father’s death she always reads novels so that her mind stays fresh to judge the contestants. Among all the judges she is most jovial person. She carries a bunch of books - English, Bengali and Marathi. She likes reading romantic novels. In English she reads Mills and Boons, in Bengali she likes Devdas and in Marathi books on Sane Guruji. Even during breaks she reads novels in her vanity van.”
Adds the source, “Tanuja is also addicted to reading and can hardly keep the books down so much so that in case she is in the middle of an interesting paragraph, she sweetly asks for a 5 minute extension of the break. She carries her books everywhere.”
About Kajol breaking down on the sets last week, the source says, “She was not able to control her emotions and broke down so Ajay Devgan has planned for a short trip to Goa with daughter Nysa, Tanuja, Tanishaa and Kajol.” But the source clarifies that the shooting for Rock N Roll Family will not be cancelled and will happen as per schedule on Monday.
Interestingly, the Rock N Roll team has opened a special library for the bookworm mother - daughter duo.

Our source reveals, “Before meeting Shah Rukh, Khali met Sachin Tendulkar at the Oberoi hotel and from there he came directly to the superstar’s house at 1.30 am. However when Khali entered the private elevator of Mannat, It stopped working for sometime. The fault was repaired soon though and Khali reached the desired floor of the bungalow.”
Adds the source, “Khali spent quality time with Shah Rukh and his family. Khan’s son Aryan was very keen to meet the wrestler. The kids asked him questions regarding his victories and his diet.
They clicked pictures and also took his autograph. After having dinner with the family, he left at 3 in the morning. The meeting was purposely arranged late in the night to avoid media attention and crowd.”

Middle-class couple, Aditya (Shah Rukh Khan) and Anjali (Juhi Chawla) Sharma move into Nath Villa, a Goan mansion with their brattish young son Banku (Aman Siddiqui). Aditya’s job as chief engineer on a cruise ship means that Anjali and Banku are left home alone in what the locals regard as a haunted house. Indeed, it is inhabited by the spirit of Kailash Nath (Amitabh Bachchan) whose attempts to scare the new inhabitants are in vain.
Banku befriends the bhoot (ghost) and names him Bhoothnath. Eventually, Bhootnath reveals himself to the Sharmas who decide that a post-death Hindu puja ceremony must be performed in order to set the spirit free. Will Bhootnath be able to phone home?
There is much to enjoy in this likeable slice of Bollywood whimsy which is a mishmash of Casper, E.T and Beetlejuice, suitably Indianised by trading on and perpetuating the entrenched Indian belief in the afterlife. Predictably, both ghost and spoilt kid learn to forgive and emerge as better souls. Bachchan and Khan (in an extended cameo), rise above the perfunctory plot to instil and sustain interest. Similarly, Chawla and Siddiqui make a fun pair. The obligatory but unremarkable songs are bearable as Bachchan and Chawla actually sing.
However, first-time director Vivek Sharma’s script and direction have too many rough edges and the film is frustratingly disjointed in places. Sharma appears undecided in the first hour as to whether he is making an eerie thriller or a comic Casper. Post-interval, the tonal inconsistency settles firmly into E.T mode as ghost and kid bond by singing a hip-hop song. A lengthy flashback, which explains Bhoothnath’s life story, is saccharine and unoriginal.
With some witty special effects and the seasoned performances of the A-list stars, Bhoothnath works best when it focuses on the spooky antics between ghost and humans. Ultimately, the film’s refusal to question the supernatural and reduce the unknowable to the easily lovable makes this unchallenging, light-spirited entertainment.

One can also opt for high-waisted trousers and skirts.”
According to fashionistas, who religiously follow global trends, high waisted jeans make girls look curvier because they act as a lower-body corset that keeps the baggage around hips firmly tucked. They also support the back and give a more firm posture giving way to an elegant gait.
Bollywood stars tune in to television
Bollywood is descending on the small screen. Television channels, in their quest to grab eyeballs are forking out big money to attract the top names of the Indian film industry. And it seems to be working, with Bollywood stars realising that they can earn big bucks from the idiot box, sometimes more than what they get from movies.
 It all began when the magic of Amitabh Bachchan as host for Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) on Star Plus mesmerised audiences across the country. The programme continued with Shah Rukh Khan replacing Bachchan. But now more stars are making a beeline to appear as hosts on TV shows.
Salman Khan will hit the tube in June with the game show Dus Ka Dum on Sony Entertainment Television (SET). According to industry experts, Khan is charging Rs 80 lakh for 30 episodes or a cool Rs 24 crore from the programme.
That is much more than what he usually charges for a movie around Rs 6 crore to Rs 8 crore per film, and which will take him anywhere from four to six months to complete. The SET programme, on the other hand, gets over in fifteen weeks.
Star couples Ajay Devgan and Kajol are judging Rock and Roll Family on Zee TV and are believed to be charging Rs 20 lakh each for 26 one-hour episodes. That translates to the husband-wife duo earning over Rs 10 crore. Compare this to Devgan’s fees of around Rs 5 crore for playing the lead in a movie, while those of Kajol’s are much lower.
Urmila Matondkar is hosting Waar Parivaar, a musical show on SET and is charging Rs 15 lakh for each episode. The 51-episode show will help the actress who incidentally does not have too many Bollywood roles at the moment earn over Rs 7.5 crore. That’s not all.
The latest entrant is Akshay Kumar, who will host the Indian version of Fear Factor. Khatron Ke Khiladi, the action-format show, will air on Colors, a soon-to-be launched channel from Viacom 18. However, there are no industry estimates on how much the hero will be paid.
Of course, despite the not-too-attractive TV viewership ratings, Shah Rukh Khan is at the top of the heap, charging over Rs 36 crore for Kya Aap Panchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? The programme was conceived by Star Plus to take on the IPL cricket telecast. Of course, if its ratings are anything to go by, it has not made the big dent Star Plus was hoping for.
Broadcasters believe that celebrity hosts bring in a certain degree of freshness to the show. "A Bollywood actor always generates initial viewership ratings. However, in the long run, the content and the format will help sustain the show," said Tarun Mehra, business head, Zee TV.
But TV executives also agree that stars don’t come cheap. A non-celebrity host would typically ask a channel for around Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 3 lakh per episode. "However, it is easy to monetise on the cost, since the presence of the celebrity adds value to the property," said Prem Kamath, V-P, marketing and communication, Star India.
At the end of it, it is all about viewership. Everyone is hoping that the Bachchan magic of KBC will rub off somehow. To be sure, when KBC was first launched in 2000 with Bachchan hosting the quiz show, Star Plus’ channel share rose from 2 per cent to 25 per cent in the 9-10 pm slot.
And in 2005, when KBC was relaunched, the show clocked the highest television viewership rating (TVR) at 13.8, according to TAM Media Research. Khan’s KBC also opened strong, with a rating of 12.3 in Hindi-speaking markets.
Likewise, Zee’s "Rock and Roll Family" witnessed a TVR of 4.22 on its debut day in the Hindi market, while Star Plus’ "Kya Aap Panchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?" had 4.61 TVR on day one - lower than the twenty-twenty IPL matches.
But the ratings of the shows with Bollywood stars are much higher than the TVRs delivered by soaps on the day of their launch (range of 1),

Bollywood star Deepika Padukone has denied rumours of a break-up with actor Ranbir Kapoor, saying she was very much together with her "boyfriend" and they were currently "happy" with the relationship.
 "Yes I have a boyfriend and we are happy," she said during a visit to Dubai as the brand ambassador of a real estate company. Asked about her love life, the 22-year-old actor who has earlier been linked to Indian cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, said as a public figure you had to learn to deal with rumours. "
There is always a lot of speculation but that is something you have to deal with. We are together and I refer to him as my boyfriend," she was quoted as saying in the Gulf News.
Padukone, who made a hugely successful Bollywood debut with director Farah Khan’s ’Om Shanti Om’ opposite Shah Rukh Khan in 2007, is currently working on Nikhil Advani’s ’Chandni Chowk to China’, also starring Akshay Kumar.

Aamir Khan is painting Bollywood blogs red with the news of his hurting himself while doing dangerous stunts for his forthcoming ‘Ghajini’. But what is not known to many is that sexy and nubile Jiah Khan is also matching paces with him in doing some hard-hitting stunts for the flick.
The reasons Jiah’s action scenes aren’t being talked-about are that she hasn’t hurt herself and more so because she isn’t talking about it. “I can’t! I’m not allowed to,” she quakes with contractual terror. “But yes, I’ve done a lot of action scenes in Ghajini. They’ve been extremely unnerving.”
Jiah also lost weight for doing these stunts. To be cleared here that Jiah is doing Ken Ghosh’s film with Shahid Kapoor and all that sms business was sent off by someone else in her name.

That television’s most popular Bahu, Prachi Desai, is making her big screen debut with ‘Rock On’ opposite Farhan Akhtar is stale by now. That Prachi has gone for an image makeover has been all over the gossip columns for quite sometime now.
The latest one is that this 19 year old female has already bagged in her next project even before her debut film hits the screens. She has been signed as one of the female leads in Abbas-Mustan’s home production ‘Life Partner’ starring Fardeen Khan, Govinda, Tusshar Kapoor and Genelia D’Souza to be directed by Rumi Jaffrey.
Prachi confirmed the news saying, “Yes, I have signed the film but it’s too early to talk about it. I can’t reveal many details about Life Partner. All I can say is that when I heard the script, I loved it and am happy that I am a part of it.”
After having her full share of success in small screen, looks like Prachi is ready to sweep off the bigger screen too. Good going, Prachi!
God Tussi Great Ho - First Look
Rumi Jaffrey’s directorial debut ‘God Tussi Great Ho’ starring Big B, Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra has been in the making for quite sometime now.
The storyline of the film goes as:
Arun Prajapati (Salman Khan) has been trying his hand at TV anchoring without much success. He blames God for this. Arun is in love with Alia (Priyanka Chopra), a TV anchor, but has not expressed his love yet. There comes in Rocky as an anchor for the channel and Arun is chucked out. He again blames God for this.
The story gets s twist when Arun meets God (Amitabh Bachchan) who gives Arun the power to run earth for seven days as Arun claims that he can do a better job. After Arun becomes God, he becomes successful. He puts Rocky into an uneasy spot and wins Alia’s heart. Also, he grants everybody’s wish. But how playing God becomes a nightmare for him is to be seen on the screen itself.

Soha's Gun license cancelled the DM
Last week, the Gurgaon District Magistrate, Rakesh Gupta, cancelled the license. He explained that Soha had not attained the mandatory age of 21 years when she had applied for the license in November 1996 - she was only 18 years old then. Under the Arms Act, a person has to be above 21 years to get a weapon license.
When contacted, Soha said, “Yes, the license in question has been revoked but I haven’t been given any written order or reason yet. Unless the written order is received, I cannot comment further.”
However, no action has been taken against Soha. According to Soha’s counsel V Bhushan Arya, Soha may file an appeal against the District Magistrate’s order after getting its copy. Arya has argued that his client did not hide her age while applying for the arms license in 1996, and again while getting it renewed in 2005. Therefore, it was the duty of the police to verify the required details.
We asked Soha if she plans to file an appeal. Soha said, “I will wait till I receive the written order and then decide, after discussing it with my advocate. Till then, I don’t want to comment on this issue.”
Anushka getting a dream debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in “Rab Ne Bana di Jodi”
Anushka has gotten really lucky as she makes a dream debut opposite King Khan in Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana di Jodi, just like Deepika who made it big with Om Shanti Om in 2007.The pretty nineteen year old who came to Bombay from Bangalore on wendell Rodericks’ insistence, will portray the movie’s 16 year old heroine with Khan’s forty year old hero. Anushka is a 5′9” stunner with lovely hair and skin, not to mention a great body. She has a contract with Sunsilk for their Silk and Shine range, Whisper and Fiat Palio.
The leggy lass was chosen to be the finale model for Wendell Roderick’s’ Spring Summer ‘07 showcase at the Lakme India Fashion Week in 2007. Speaking about her, the famous designer says, ” I spotted a great potential in her and got her to Bombay to model for me. I am so happy for her now that is making her Bollywood debut.”
So what made him cast her as the finale model for his show? “Oh she has a great versatilty to her. She looks so innocent, so fresh and so clean, just like a girl next door. When she smiles her face lights up, and that is so joyful!” says wendell in praise of his discovery.
He feels she well excel in Bollywood.” Anushka has a very expressive and emotive face and she can convey happy ex-pressions and sadness with equal elan. She is a superb model and the grace and great body will help too,” says Wendell.
When she is not modeling, the future superstar catches up on her sleep, meets friends and studies economics through correspondence. She loves reading as well. She has so much to do and so little time.With a name like Anushka, meaning ‘grace’ she was born to be a model.
It was at the age of 15, while other girls were mugging textbooks for their board exams, she walked the ramp for the very first time. Looking back, she feels that it was a terrible experience, because she walked as if she were walking on the street. She also participated in the Pantene Zoom Elite Model Look India in 2004. She is making big waves even before her first release. After signing a three film deal with Vishesh Films, model-turned-actress Sonal Chauhan has signed a film with one of the most prolific producers Kumar Mangat. “Yes, I have signed a film with him but I can’t tell you anything more apart from that,” Sonal disclosed to Bollywood Hungama.
Sonal’s debut film Jannat is releasing on May16, which also happens to be her birthday. “I’m very anxious but also excited. I hope it’s a good birthday gift for me. I’m very positive. It’s a great film.” What about a few controversial dialogues in the film? “Nothing has been done intentionally. It’s all in good spirit,” Sonal signs off.

Canadian University will bestow Akshay Kumar with an honorary doctorate
Akshay Kumar has many reasons to celebrate. The man had four releases last year and all the films were superhit at the Box Office. This year, his first release Tashan failed to create the same magic but Akshay did walk away with loads of praises for his performance. The actor will soon be making his appearance on the small screen as well by hosting a reality show called Fear Factor- Khatron Ke Khiladi. And if this was not enough, Akki will now be receiving an honorary doctorate from a Canadian University.
“The University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, will bestow Akshay with an honorary doctorate on May 9. It’s basically for all the social work that he has done in Canada. The University called him up to present him the doctorate,” says Akshay’s spokesperson.
In the recent past, such kind of honorary doctorates from foreign Universities were given to film personalities like Yash Chopra, Amitabh Bachchan, Shabana Azmi and Shilpa Shetty.
